Floating Fields Date Pattern Change

I have a Floating Field that populates based on a date selected in an earlier Date Field. While the earlier Date Field uses the Australian DD/MM/YYYY pattern, the Floating Field displays the American MM/DD/YYYY pattern. Is there any way I can control how the date displays in the Floating Field?
