Tool Problem (?): Table Pagination with Expanding Row

$

Hi,

this is my first post here. Normally I was able to find a solution for every problem I came across. I am working with the Adobe Livecycle Designer now for several years - currently in the version ES 10.

Now here is my issue I hope you can help me with.

I have a form consisting of several Subforms and tables. The selected table is being filled via JS (row breaks are set via addInstance()).

Important to note here is that the marked table consists of several inner tables meaning that there can be several rows wihtin a row.

doc structure.png

Normally it looks like this. Pagination working nicely and all the data presented properly. Please note that we can see 35 lines on the right hand site.

35 Lines working.png

Now the same layout with 1 additional line/row: 36. As you can see the pagination does not work properly eventhough there was just one line added.

If we now increase the number of input lines this problem gets worse and worse.

36 Lines not working.png

My first thought was that I had wrong pagination settings for any of the tables or rows. But pagination is allowed, Place set to "following previous" everywhere and no "keep with" selected.

Hope any of you knows this issue, came across it or has an idea how to fix it. I also found that others have the problem in the comment section of a blog but no answer was provided/ nobody knew it.

thx for you help!

LiveCycle Designer dynamic form/table with repeat rows and calculated total in footer - need code to turn total red if 100, black if =100

I have a dynamic form with a table that uses a button with an instance manager to add rows and another to delete rows. The footer row has a field that calculates the total of fields in the rows above, and changes as the user enters entries, add/removes rows, changes entries.

I would love to turn the text of the calculated total to red if it is <> 100, and back to black when it =100.

I've tried all sorts of code in all sorts of events. Sometimes I can get the calculated total to turn red -- but the calculation won't work and it displays as zero. Mostly I just break the calculation and nothing happens at all after that.

Name of field where user enters a number that is totaled in the footer row:

form1.Mainsubform.Tablesubform.Table.TableREPEATROW.UserNumberSubform.UserNumberNumericFi eld

Name of field where total is calculated

form1.Mainsubform.Tablesubform.Table.FooterRow.FooterRowNumericField

Code to calculate the total:

::calculate - (FormCalc, client)

sum(TableREPEATROW[*].UserNumberSubform.UserNumberNumericField[*])

This works fine to calculate the total in the footer. What code will change the font of that total to red if it is <>100 and back to black if it is =100, where do I put it, and is it JavaScript or FormCalc?

Hello,

I was wondering if someone could help me with a really weird problem.

I have a form I created that hides and shows a lot of different fields it also has some add and remove buttons. This all works great until the user hits the send email.

When the email is sent the PDF file that has been sent is comming in blank as if the user has done nothing? The Print button works fine. The on screen display works fine.

I am using the send as PDF and a mailto:email@address.com

Any Suggestions?

Thanks, Leo

I apologize for this elementary question.  I am using LiveCycle to create more robust forms for our office.  However, when I send the PDF to a customer, they are not able to utilize the Digital Signature option or to save the form.  What I am I doing wrong on the form?

Thanks for your assistance.

Duplicating a Page in Live Cycle ES3

I need to copy a page in Live Cycle ES3 and modify it slightly so that I have two nearly identical pages.

I've tried duplicating the page (selecting the page in the Hierarchy window, then selecting "Edit > Duplicate" from the main menu.

  • Result is that I have what appears to be two pages in the Hierarchy window, but clicking on either returns the same page that now has duplicate content.
  • It appears that my actions have just created duplicate content on the same page.

I've tried adding a new page by selecting the top node in the Hierarchy window then selecting "Insert > New Page" from the main menu.

  • This adds a new blank page at the bottom of the hierarchy window, which seems like progress until I try to move the new page into the desired position between two existing pages, at which point the page disappears.

How can I create a duplicate of page 6?

Thanks very much in advance.

Is LifeCycle Designer capable of creating forms that can be filled out and saved using Acrobat Reader

Hi everybody,

I am quite new with the tool so I hope I am not asking too stupid questions.

I just purchased for work Adobe LifeCycle Designer ES 4 (Version 11) having the following purpose in mind:

Create a PDF form that can be filled out and saved/printed/etc by other colleagues using Adobe Acrobat Reader DC.

The PDF form is supposed to be dynamic and interactive, meaning for example that the amount of pages displayed is depending on some actions made by the user in Acrobat Reader (drop down list, checkboxes, etc.)

After starting to find my may with LifeCycle Designer, I could create some actions that seems making all of this possible. When I open the created PDF with Acrobat Reader, the file is responding correctly (things can be filled out, corrected, displayed/hidden, etc...)... except that when I want to save that file, Acrobat Reader says he cannot (he can only save the empty form => no filled up data, no new layout).

I could print it as a PDF, but since my final file can be quite big and long to complete, I can not accept the user not to be able to save it with Reader in the middle of the filling process...

Since I searched on several forums, I know Acrobat Pro has an option that solves that problem applying some rights to the PDF so that Reader is allowed to save the data and not only the empty form... But I do not have Acrobat Pro ! I found a colleague having it who did that action on my file: everything is fine after, but I do not want to ask him this everytime I am updating my file...

Is the LifeCycle Designer itself capable of applying similar right to PDFs it is creating or not? I bought a Software said to be capable of creating dynamic interactive PDF forms... but it seems nobody can actually use them. I do not understand why LifeCycle Designer is sold alone if the tool alone is useless...

Thanks for your help!

Layers in a dynamic form

I am seeking to create a dynamic for - document that has a variety of layers consisting of paragraphs of "tasks". I would like to have this document be flowable and consistent. When one task layer is turned on the text builds for task one in the place holder. When layer 2 is turned on, task 2 starts in the flowable place holder right after.

Is this possible?

I have received a Serial Number for LiveCycle Designer since I have upgraded from Adobe Acrobat Reader Pro to Adobe DC Pro. However, I am unable to locate a download link for LiveCycle Designer ES4. I just got off the phone with an Adobe Support Representative and was instructed to post in the forum. Can someone point me in the right direction to get this issue resolved?

Thank you,

PDF Fillable Forms made with LiveCycle Designer - "Permanency" of the technology

$

I like using LiveCycle Designer to make PDF forms.  I want to use it with organizations I work for to make fillable forms.  But I am concerned that the forms will "break" more easily than Acroforms.  Generally - is this concern of mine valid?

-If I have a subform in a flowed form that is made "visible" in certain circumstances, and "hidden" in others-using a JavaScript, will this functionality work always going forward?  What if Adobe sold Designer?  Is it less likely to work than similar functionality in Acroforms?

-How about the design of the form itself - if designed with LiveCycle Designer - the text, its placement of form fields, and their functionality, pages...

Thank you for feedback on this.

LiveCycle using PNGs

I'm using LiveCycle ES3 and am trying to add our business seal to a form and haven't had any luck in adding TIFF or JPEG (it just shows the "broken" image) and got the PNG to show up in the form. The seal was originally an EPS file, saved to PDF and opened in Photoshop and saved to a PNG file.

In the Design mode of LiveCycle it shows the PNG image with a black background however in the Preview PDF of the form and also with the form opened in Acrobat that black background is not visible.

This is how its showing up in LiveCycle (with black background in the Design Mode):

And this is how it looks in Preview PDF and how it looks with the form opened in Acrobat:

The issue comes with the printing of the form. When printing out the form, the black background (as seen in the first image above) prints out. Is there any way to include the seal to a form without there being a background to the seal both on screen and printing?

Form - Lock fields after input but not signatures.

Good Afternoon,

I’ve been reading through the Adobe forums as well as other areas on the net, but can’t seem to find what I am looking for.

At present we are doing the below:

  1. User will open a pre-made PDF form in Adobe Acrobat 7 Standard, and input the necessary values for each field.
  2. They will then print the form to acrobat making everything on the form non-editable.
  3. Then they will send this new non-editable form to one of their supervisors, who would then review the form and insert their digital signature somewhere on the form.
  4. The supervisor will then send the form to another supervisor who also reviews the form and creates their digital signature on the form.
  5. Then the form is then sent to the manager where the same things happens. The manager will review the form and insert his digital signature somewhere in an open space on the form.

We want to minimize some steps here to make it easier for the users as well as make the form more organized.

Below is what we are trying to accomplish with this form.

  1. User will open pre-made PDF form in Adobe Acrobat 7 Standard, and input the necessary values for each field.
  2. The user will then push some sort of button that will lock all editable fields (EXCEPT the signature fields, these must be left editable).
  3. The user then sends the form to the supervisor, who will review the form and insert their digital signature in the blank signature box at the bottom of the page (I have already completed this step)
  4. This supervisor will then send the form to the other supervisor to be reviewed and digitally signed in the next available signature box at the bottom of the page and then it will head on to the next person to be reviewed and signed.

So what I am looking for is a way for the first user to lock the editable fields once they are completed filling them in, course except for the signature fields which are about 10 of them.

Can anyone give me some advice on how to accomplish this? Please do note that I am working with “Adobe Livecycle Designer ES2” as well as “Acrobat X Professional”. Would also be good to mention that I knew nothing of LiveCycle until about an hour ago. So I am very new on how this works. My knowledge on Acrobat Professional I would say is between average to advanced.

Kind Regards,

K

Updated text field in master page does not display actualized on all pages

Hi everybody,

I am currently creating a form using LiveCycle Designer ES4 Version 11. Purpose it to have it opened, filled-out, printed, saved, etc... by other colleagues working with Adobe Acrobat Reader DC.

Since the form can have quite a few pages depending on how complex the described situation will be, I wanted to repeat in the header a few commons things to the form so that if a printed page get lost, anybody could identify quite fast to which project, task, client, etc... it belongs.

I created for that a master page "MasterPage2" with 2 text fields (read only) in the header position ...Capture1.PNG

...and on the the first page of the form "Page1", some other editable text fields.

Capture2.PNG

I built some actions so that on change of those editable text fields (on "Page1"), the header text fields on the "MasterPage2" are actualized. I was expecting that "Page2" and "Page3" using the "MasterPage2" are getting their header actualized.

When I fill up those fields in Acrobat Reader...

Capture3.PNG

...the header on page 2 is updated accordingly...

Capture4.PNG

but for page 3, the text headers remain empty...

Capture5.PNG

Can somebody explain me what I did wrong and help me fix this?

Thanks for your help !

Calculating a date field, based on another value

$

I have seen a lot of postings about users picking dates, and then having a calculation based on that. I have been trying to use some of that syntax, but I get nothing to appear. What I am trying to do is I have a Date field, and it is already populated. I have then created another field, and I want that one to calculate to 36 month after the original field. I want to allow this field value to be overridden by the user. To add one more layer onto this one, if the original value changes I want this calculated field to recalculate. So I would imagine the calculation would have to be done in the exit event of the original field. I do not need to force it to a specific format because other regions will use it, so if possible I would prefer for their SAP location settings to determine the format.

Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks,

Adobe DC does not print all form fields

I downloaded a form that has fields to be filled in.  I'm using free Acrobat DC to fill the form.  Form have text and radio buttons.  It prints most of the data in text fields and radio buttons.  But it also leaves text and radio button fields blanks also.

In print properties, it is set to print Documents and Markup.

I don't know if I can change field properties with free version of Adobe DC.  I looked into it and could not find a way to do it.

Help please!!

Thanks!

Calculations with instanceManager Count

$

I have a total sum field that takes values from two different subforms. One subform has an initial count of 0.

If users want, they can "add" that subform into view.

So, I imagine I need two if conditions for my calculations. One with only 1 subform and one with 2 subforms.

under calculate event

formCalc

I tried this:

if (RepeatWrap.instanceManager.count == 0 ) then

$.rawValue =  Sum(Table1.Row[*].Cell8);

else

$.rawValue =  Sum(Table1.Row[*].Cell8)+Sum(RepeatWrap[*].Table1.Row[*].Cell8);
endif

RepeatWrap is the second subform.

If course this is not working..

Is it my syntax or my logic? Most likely both... T_T

Many thanks in advance

Time Field Format Conversion

I have a time field that works fine if you enter Military time format, 1336 is converted to 1:36 PM or 0245 is converted to 2:45 AM.

I might be reaching for the stars but Is there a way to somehow enter standard time and have it converted to the actual format?  Something like, 136p is converted to 1:36PM or 245a is 2:45 AM?

Thanks!

Hello, I hope someone can help. I am new to LiveCycle and are looking for a step by step guide to adding a sum total field.

I have found some guides but the confusing part is where or what thing I select to add the formula script to?

Do you click the Total field in my case? (see picture)

Any info or links you can give would be great!

Thanks
